Children's Policy

1. Minimum Age: 16

The minimum age to create a VLStudio account or use the Service in any capacity is 16 years old. VLStudio is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. This single rule applies across VLStudio Web and VLStudio Desktop, and it is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

2. How the Age Rule Is Enforced

Account signup on both the website and the desktop app collects a date of birth and rejects signups below 16. The date of birth is stored with your profile and is used only for age enforcement (including the 18+ purchase gate in Section 3); see our Privacy Policy for how profile data is handled. If we learn that an account does not meet the minimum age, we will close it and delete the associated personal data.

3. Real-Money Purchases: 18+

You must be at least 18 years old to make a real-money purchase on VLStudio, including the VLS-PRO subscription. This higher line exists because a minor's payment raises consent and chargeback issues we cannot reliably verify or support. The 18+ check is enforced server-side from the date of birth captured at signup. See our Subscription & Billing Terms, which incorporates this requirement by reference.

4. Why 16

16 is the strictest digital-consent age any regime relevant to VLStudio sets, so one rule works everywhere without a parental-consent mechanism:

• GDPR Article 8 (European Union): member states set a digital-consent age between 13 and 16 (Spain, where VLStudio is established, sets 14; some states set 16). A 16+ floor clears the highest setting in every member state.
• UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018: sets the equivalent UK age at 13 — cleared by a 16+ floor.
• COPPA (United States): triggers obligations for under-13 users — cleared by a 16+ floor.

Because everyone on the Service has confirmed being 16 or older, no parental-consent flow is required or offered; under-16s simply cannot hold an account.

5. If You Believe a Child Has Used the Service

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 16 has created a VLStudio account or provided us personal information, contact us using the details in Section 7. We will investigate and, where appropriate, delete the account and associated personal information, consistent with the deletion scope described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Changes to This Policy

Material changes to this policy are announced as described in our Terms Versioning Policy and take effect with a new "Last updated" date above.
